Liberians, no matter where on the globe dispersed, be forever mindful that the 43,000 square miles of land and water bounded by the Ivory Coast on the East, Sierra Leone on the West, Guinea on the North and the Atlantic Ocean on the South is our home. There is no place like home.
Because of greed, over-ambition, tribalism and hate, we almost completely destroyed ourselves. We must thank God above; the peace-keeping force from sympathetic African nations; and the United States, under the Presidency of George W. Bush, for helping us to see this day. We have finally and legitimately settled down to the formation of an elected and functional government empowered by the Constitution.
The things that happened to us from the time the Settlers landed on what they named Providence Island, up to yesterday are in the past. We can do nothing about the past. In the present, we must reconcile our differences, plan and act together, so that in the future, we can benefit together from our action in the present. We have an opportunity to set our country in the proper direction. We should take cognizance of this and forge ahead with the greatest force on earth love, united in spirit and purpose to a common loftier goal.
